More information about the H1N1 influenza (swine flu)
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends influenza vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu. Becky and I both wish we would have taken that advice.

Oxycodone is an opioid analgesic medication synthesized from opium-derived thebaine. It was developed in 1916 in Germany, as one of several new semi-synthetic opioids in an attempt to improve on the existing opiates and opioids: morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine.

Question about calling people midgets asked of the editors of the Associated Press Stylebook
Q. What is AP’s stance on the terms dwarf, midget and little person?
A. On these words, AP would generally look for guidance in Webster’s New World College Dictionary Fourth Edition.
Webster’s New World College Dictionary Fourth Edition said:
Main Entry: midget
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
2 sometimes offensive : a very small person; specifically : a person of unusually small size who is physically well-proportioned
So in the end, the dictionary of choice by professional American journalists does list the word as “sometimes offensive.” Probably better to leave that one alone.
Alumnus, Alumni, Alumna, Alumnae?
http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=65068
According to the Associated Press Stylebook:
Use alumnus (alumni in the plural) when referring to a man who has attended a school.
Use alumna (alumnae in the plural) for similar references to a woman.
Use alumni when referring to a group of men and women.
